2019 Theatre Library Association Book Award Submissions
Nominations are now open for the 2019 Theatre Library Association Book Awards! Presented annually, the Theatre Library Association Book Awards recognize works of performing arts scholarship published during the previous calendar year that demonstrate exemplary use and interpretation of library and archival collections. Collections and anthologies consisting mainly of previously published materials; and memoirs/autobiographies without substantial research will not be eligible.
The two award categories are:
- The George Freedley Memorial Award honors English-language books of exceptional scholarship in the field of live theatre or performance published or distributed in the United States during 2018.
- Richard Wall Memorial Award honors English-language books of exceptional scholarship in the field of recorded or broadcast performance published or distributed in the United States during 2018.
To submit a title(s) for consideration, you must email the title(s) of the book you are submitting to tlabookawards@gmail.com. Make sure to include the email address of the person who should be contacted if the book is selected as a winner or finalist. We welcome both publisher and author nominated submissions. The deadline for submission is February 28, 2019. Full submission criteria can be found here.
To submit a title for consideration, you must submit a total of FOUR COPIES of each book to:

Winners of each award will be determined by a separate three-member jury.
$500 will be awarded to each of the winners.
Each jury may elect to award an additional Special Jury Prize, which includes a $250 honorarium.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts in October, 2019.
